Staff: What are your concerns about your self and your life?
Patient: I am worried that I am different from others.
Staff: Why are you different?
Patient: I have a life long gambling addiction. I spend $10,000 on gambling in my life.
Staff: The fact that you are admitting it is a good start.
Patient: I also eat junk food every day on my own.
Staff: Everyone is different.
Patient: How can this be normal?! I have seen the statistics. No one is more extreme than
me!
Staff: Do not worry. Statistics could be wrong. Nowadays everyone wants to "average", "normal", adapt and blend in with society. Some people raise more attention than others because of their image, name or behaviour. Those are the people that get noticed and remembered. You are upset because someone must have criticised you not realising that you could be more normal and average that you appear to be. What is normal in some cultures is not normal in others.
